Honorable mentions

Nature inspired design

During an Industrial Design course my group was challenged to create a stool. I felt particularly inspired to include references to nature. Included on the right are 3 of the rendered 3D Solidworks models I created.

The first is our final design on a conceptual poster, inspired by a mushroom concept I created. The second was another of my contestants, inspired by the Cordyceps funghi that grows out of ants and other insects. The last slide includes a prior assignment with the task to create a watering can. Mine was inspired by the Great Crested Grebe (fuut) under water.

Tiny houses & strategic niche management

Tiny Houses encourage more sustainable living in middle or high income families. On the left is a snippet from a personal project of mine, where I further applied 3D Solidworks skills to experiment with a mobile Tiny House for 4. Furthermore, I included a visual below from a project about the possibility of tiny houses becoming a norm in NL and how that would work considering policy and trends. I enjoy creating visuals such as these to convey information.

This visual is an adaptation from the transition dynamics model by Geels (2002)

Clothing industry & backcasting

The clothing industry fascinated me because it is both an important expression of identity, yet sadly also the source of many different environmental and social impacts globally.

During my minor track my group did an investigation of the life-cycle wide impacts of clothing and using the backcasting method wherein you choose a vision and then work your way back to determine how to arrive at that goal. I primarily worked on visualizing this poster map.
